Terms of use
Last updated August 5, 2026
These terms cover using this website. A community running an event here has a separate written agreement with us, and where the two differ that agreement governs for that community's data.
What this covers
This website is operated by Great Lakes IT Inc. These terms apply to anyone using it — visitors browsing for a pow wow, participants registering for one, and volunteers and organisers signing in to run one.
Each community using the platform also has a written agreement with us covering its own data. Nothing on this page reduces what that agreement promises the community, and where the two conflict, the agreement wins.
What the platform is for
Publishing pow wow information, taking registrations, running competitions and scoring, recording results, and handling prizes and payouts. Communities publish their own events; we do not host the gatherings, set the rules, or decide the results.
Using it properly
When using this site, do not:
- Register anyone other than yourself or someone you are responsible for.
- Supply false information, particularly an age or a category, in a competition where it affects a result.
- Attempt to reach information belonging to another community or another participant.
- Share a judge access code, an organiser sign-in, or a registration management link with anyone else.
- Copy the community directory or participant information for bulk contact or resale.
- Interfere with the service, or attempt to test its security without our written permission.
Accounts and access codes
Judge access codes are issued for one judge, one session, and bind to the first device that uses them. Registration management links act as a credential — anyone holding the link can change that registration. Treat both like a key, and tell the community running the event if one goes astray.
Who owns what
A community owns everything it puts here — its event information, its words, its photographs, and the registration and results data of its event, including anything derived from it such as scores and standings. We claim no ownership of any of it.
The software itself, and the platform's own name and mark, remain ours.
Photographs and cultural content published by a community remain that community's and that participant's. Nothing on this site is licensed for reuse by being visible here.
Accuracy and availability
Event details, schedules and results are published by each community and are theirs to keep current. We do not verify them. A schedule can change on the day; the community running the event is the authority on it, not this website.
We work to keep the platform available, particularly during an event, and the venue setup exists precisely so a weekend does not depend on internet access. We cannot promise uninterrupted service, and this website is provided as it is, without warranty.
Limits
To the extent the law allows, Great Lakes IT Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of this website. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top will change with them. Continuing to use the site after that means the new version applies. A community's own agreement changes only by agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there. This does not displace a First Nation's own laws where those apply to that Nation's information.
